At Cargilfield Art is taught by a specialist from P3 upwards. Art
and Design activities promote discovery and understanding
of ideas and feelings as well as providing a means of expressing
these visually. Pupils develop their ability to invent,
create and interpret images and objects; design, make and
evaluate; and gain insight to technological processes.
Pupils explore shape, line, form, colour, tone, pattern
and texture. A wide variety of media, techniques and
crafts are used in the execution of their artwork becoming
more complex as they mature.
The importance of observational drawing cannot be overstated
and is the basis for all study and development work.
As well as class lessons, there are Art Clubs within the
department every morning, some afternoons and some evenings. There
is also a Pre-Prep Art Club one afternoon a week. There
are a significant number of pupils who regularly attend these
sessions.
We prepare pupils with outstanding ability to produce portfolios
and sit Art Scholarships for their senior schools.
