The Friends of Cargilfield is a group of parents which meets
three or four times a term to discuss various aspects of
Cargilfield life. They also have a very important role
when it comes to looking after new parents. The main
names on the Friends of Cargilfield Committee usually stay
on board for three years so that there is a bit of continuity
within this group. The main purposes of the Friends
of Cargilfield are:
To contact and meet new parents of Cargilfield before the
child begins his or her life at the school. New parents
and new children will be invited to other parents’ houses
perhaps for drinks or a wee party just before term starts.
The Form Representatives on the Friends of Cargilfield will
host a drinks party at some stage during the year: all parents
of children within the year group are invited and these have
proved very popular.
Friends meet to discuss various aspect of fund-raising:
this could be a simply cake sale or second-hand uniform sale
or it may be to organise a full auction for the Chapel Organ
which was held during this year. Fund-raising profits
will range from £50 to - as in the case of the
Chapel Appeal - £45,000.
Because the Friends are parents of Cargilfield and they
are also supporters of the school, they will act as a sounding
board if there are worries within the community.
The Friends will also consider a major part of their role to
promote Cargilfield as an independent school of quality and
happiness.
