24 Awards given to Cargilfield Children this year.
Thirty seven children ventured up to Perthshire for the Junior Camp on Friday the 7th of May, camping on the Glenalmond College estate – many thanks to them – and the group was blessed with the most superb weather throughout the weekend.
A group from Form 7 have been away on a Geography and Science field trip to The Burn in Angus joined by some of Form 8 who enjoyed a Poetry, Photography and Art experience.
For the 3rd year running Cargilfield Chapel Choir won the Sacred Song section of the annual Songfest at Loretto with their beautifully sung, full two-part anthem, For the Beauty of the Earth, by John Rutter. Very well done to 32 Cargilfield children who took part in this 90th Music Festival. Particular success: Oliver Starling first in his guitar section; Finlay Richardson first in the trumpet: Alexander McLeod first in his piano winning the William Townsend Medal.
Cargilfield’s 1st XI went on hockey tour to the south of England, drawing 3-all with Sedbergh U14A; defeating Clifton College 2 – 0; and defeating Kingswood in Bath 4 -2. A party of children and staff spent the weekend up in Pitlochry in Perthshire for two days of kayaking, river rafting and Munro Climbing.
What a tremendous success this production was; the Chapel has been alive with Music all term and all children were stars in the way that they made Cargilfield’s Sound of Music such a memorable team effort.
There has been plenty to smile about in Nursery with the children thinking and talking about food!
