Poetry Success

5 Cargilfield children won prizes in the Green Pencil Poetry Competition which was held at the end of the Autumn Term. There were 21 overall winners in the competition which was nationwide and the 5 winners were invited to the award ceremony at the Central Library in Edinburgh. This follows on a great deal of success on the poetry front: 7 of our poets were chosen to have their poems produced in the Government’s poetry anthology to celebrate “coming home”. 100 poems were chosen for this book and 7 were ours. Jack Rutherford won the BBC National Poetry Competition U11 prize earlier in the term.
