There's never a dull moment at Cargilfield. Check on this page for all of our news. It’s updated weekly and will give you a good sense of the goings-on at school.

For the second time during this academic year, a party of boys and girls went to the Burn House up on the banks of the North Esk in Kincardineshire. Sixteen pupils were on an English (poetry), Photography and Art trip and 7W were on a Science and Geography field course. The other Form 7’s had attended the Burn course in the Autumn Term.
We were lucky with the weather and the two hundred acres of the Burn estate welcomed us with open arms not just with its beauty and peace but also with its hospitality which as ever was second to none.
What a glorious time: Dunnotter Castle; Catterline Fishing Village; St Cyrus and Montrose beaches; the fantastic geology of the North Esk River and the various fault lines; the incredibly diverse flora of the Burn estate and of course the snails down on St Cyrus beach. This area is one of scientific and geographical interest and not just for older individuals. The boys and girls of Cargilfield thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of the three days and the icing is always the eighteenth century building, the most lovely of estates with a lot of different activities from tennis to putting to football to croquet and probably most importantly, the peace and a feeling of solitude and wellbeing which pervades the whole space. The final visit was to Corrie Fee at the very end of Glen Clova sitting underneath the two munros of Mayar and Dreish: Corrie Fee is one of the most clearly defined glacial valleys in the United Kingdom and although the weather was not exactly perfect on the Wednesday afternoon, this was a fitting end to the trip and I must thank Mr Laver and Mr Ronan, Mrs Gillespie and Mr Sommerville for their help; and to Mrs Elder for her assistance during the time at the Burn. Some of the photography and the poetry is of a very high quality indeed and I hope that you enjoy seeing some of the photographs and indeed maybe a bit of the film and will read some of the poetry which is contained in this publiciser and displayed around the school.
