Boarding Weekend fun

The second boarding weekend of the term saw over 40 children in school taking part in the usual plethora of activities as well as finding time to play and relax with their friends in the warm late September sunshine!  Saturday started early for some as the U11 and U10 rugby players headed off to play the Academy, almost with the taste of Mandy’s famous breakfasts still fresh in their mouths and cheered on by lots of Mums and Dads.  Back at school, a group did Music composition with Mrs Sommerville whilst some headed off swimming to Leith Waterworld; a number of girls enjoyed being pampered at a Beauticians’ morning, painting nails, curling hair and having a facepack!  In addition, a brave group of Form 8’s went to “Go Ape” near Linlithgow, which has the biggest Tarzan swing and the only zip wire Tibetan Bridge landing – they certainly unleashed their inner Tarzans, as did the five staff who went with them!  There was also plenty of time to watch some of the Rugby World Cup, play soccer in the sports hall and visit the ICT suite to send emails home amongst other things.  Sunday morning dawned sunny again, perfect for kayaking over at Ratho, whilst a group went paintballing and almost managed to shoot Mr Murdoch; there was more swimming at Leith Waterworld, Mr Sommerville had children re-enacting a spoof scene from “Brief Encounter” in his film group, some climbed up Arthur’s Seat and then the weekend was finished off with some trampolining and pony trekking over at Lasswade.  In amongst all this, there was time for soccer in the Sports Hall, relaxing in front of the TV and play games in the ICT room.  A lovely weekend indeed!
