We build on our pupils’ cultural and religious foundations
by giving them a thorough grounding in the Bible, and an
introduction to the Church’s year and its observance,
at appropriate times. We also look at people in the past
and present who have inspired others by their courage and
faith. By studying and discussing the faith of the biblical
writers, and later people of faith, children are enabled
to grow in their awareness of the moral and spiritual dimensions
in their own lives, and to take increasing responsibility
for themselves in these areas.
We also develop a degree of understanding of other world
faiths so that children will learn that there are various
different ways in which people have pursued truth and
right living and thinking.
All classes are given regular memory work. This helps to
anchor the material in their minds and imaginations, and
provides present and future enrichment, as pupils make their
own spiritual journeys. We see video clips occasionally,
listen to music, examine photographs and pictures as well
as using various texts, including the Good News Bible, and
the Lion Children’s Bible.
