Bursaries & Scholarships

Bursary Support - Cargilfield has a limited Bursary Fund which is used as a support for parents in financial need. It is possible for the right candidate to receive, by combination of an Award and/or a Bursary, 100% fee remission. All Bursary Awards are means tested and require a financial statement from parents which is treated in the strictest confidence. The necessary form can be obtained from the school office. All applications must be received by the 1st April and are considered shortly after by the Bursary Committee. All Bursary Awards are subject to an annual review.

In addition to these Bursary Awards, Cargilfield offers a small number of Awards providing assistance in cases of genuine need. These cases include the death of a parent when the child is already at Cargilfield; a change in family circumstances which might threaten the withdrawal from the school when a pupil is preparing for examinations to move on to senior school; to children of service personnel killed or very severely injured in the course of their duties.

Scholarships - Cargilfield offers Academic, Music and Sport Scholarships at entry into Form 4 and Form 5. All Scholarships gained on entry carry a financial reward and are subject to an annual review. Scholarship Awards are made up to a maximum of 15% of the school fees and Minor Awards may be given up to a maximum of 10%. Awards made may be augmented in the cases of financial need by the granting of Bursary subject to completion of a statement of parental income. Boys and Girls who are entered for the Cargilfield Scholarships will be invited to the school for testing and during the day will be able to spend time with Cargilfield children and take part in various lessons and activities. Information about applying for a Scholarship at Cargilfield may be obtained from the school office.
