U12 Girls Rounders v Kilgraston

RoundersThe U12’s travelled up to Kilgraston on a beautiful sunny afternoon this week. We won the toss and chose to field. Kilgraston stepped in to bat and scored a total of 3 ½ rounders off 25 good balls. Our reply was 6 for our first innings and we certainly made the most of the latter part of this innings - scoring 4 rounders off the last 6 balls. Our fielding in the 2nd innings was much tighter and it was great to see Joanna, Lalsa and Jameelah all make fine catches to put out the opposition. We seemed to find our confidence in the 2nd innings and scored a healthy 8 ½ which made the final score of 14 ½ - 8 ½ to Cargilfield.

U10 Cricket v Loretto (A)

CricketOn Wednesday afternoon, the Under 10 cricket team travelled to a blustery but mostly sunny Musselburgh to play a 20-20 match against Loretto. We won the toss and elected to bat, and at the end of the 20 overs we had scored 129 for 6.

Angus Warburton opened the bowling only allowing one run off his first two overs. The opening pair were proving difficult to beat as they kept their bats straight and were not risking any silly runs. Raife Stirling-Langley struck first and caught and bowled their tough opening batsman. It wasn’t until Gordon’s 3rd over when Angus took a terrific diving catch to get the other opening batsman out. Gordon then took an immediate second after his ball flicked off the bails. Joshua Thomson bowled well and made a double wicket maiden and Fergus and Angus both took a wicket each thanks to the quick wicket keeping from Hugo Macmillan. The climax of the match occurred when Will Porter stepped up for his second over and took a hat-trick with his first three balls! The first was good catch from Josh Thomson at Mid-off; the second was a terrific piece of fielding from Jamie Corkery, positioned at Point, who took a fantastic catch above his head; and the third was a beautiful straight delivery with enough spin to deceive any batsman, which hit middle stump.
