Cargilfield is situated on its own campus in the Barnton/Cramond area of Edinburgh. 12 acres include a new Nursery and Pre-Prep, new Upper School classrooms, new facilities for Music, sport, Science, IT and Art. The main house built in 1890 is still the centre of Cargilfield life and houses the chapel, boarding accommodation, dining room and sitting rooms.

Cargilfield has outstanding facilities for a small school and we are confident that your child will have the opportunity to learn in the best possible environment for both pupils and teachers.
The Upper School is a Prep School for 8 to 13 year olds. It combines traditional facilities such as the beautiful war memorial chapel, dining hall and playing fields with the design and technology centre, 3 new computer suites, all-weather pitches and the modern, large sports hall with its own climbing wall. There is also a new Science department, a new 10 room music school, a new 2 story teaching block, housing form 4, French, Geography and Mathematics, a new girls’ boarding house and this year a new classroom centre for English and History.
A cosy and well-stocked library, a theatre, tennis courts and the warm friendly boarding accommodation with well-equipped and comfortable common rooms make sure that boys and girls are looked after in well-maintained accommodation.

Pre-Prep and Nursery for 3 to 8 year olds is an impressive contemporary building. The Nursery overlooks landscaped gardens and there are south facing classrooms, a state-of-the-art IT suite and a multipurpose hall leading out to an open-air theatre. A new all weather sports pitch sits conveniently outside.

Few city based schools are fortunate to have such extensive grounds and the benefit of such a range of up-to-date facilities. We are grateful that many many years ago the decision was made to relocate the school to Barnton from Trinity; this has given us a safe, secure and beautiful location to teach young children.
