U11A Rugby V Loretto

Won 10-6

We played a squad of 15 from Loretto this afternoon so we agreed to play 10 a-side with our A team playing the first 20 minutes, and a B team for the second half, which gave everybody a decent amount of rugby. The Loretto boys got held up in traffic, so we slugged it out amongst ourselves for 15 minutes or so before kick-off, which the boys certainly enjoyed.

Our A team have played a lot of rugby with effectively four matches over the weekend on tour, so they were very slick and used to playing together. We powered over a lot of tries and defended robustly. Our B team had a much more even match and it was exciting to watch as both teams scored some good tries and tore into each other in defence. There were some long passages of play, with some lung-busting efforts from both sets of players. James S was particularly strong in defence and it was great to see Arthur back in a rugby shirt smashing people back in the tackle. Monty was rapid down the wing and scored some super tries. All in all, a very positive afternoon and we all enjoyed hosting a great group of lads from Loretto. Match tea was very sociable and friendly, which was super to see. Well done, boys.
