Lots of fun for the U9 hockey girls!

Lots of goals and lots of smiles!

We were very pleased that some Ardvreck mums saved the day, by driving the Ardvreck teams to Cargilfield when their bus broke down. Cargilfield played 3 teams against 2 Ardvreck teams. The mixed ability red team played first and performed well, with Rowan and Emilia strong in defence and Lyla, Bonnie and Isabella pushing forward. Cargilfield spent more time in the Ardvreck half but we were unable to score in the first half. We moved players in the second half and Bonnie scored a super goal. Rowan and Isabella also had some great chances. We were all pushing forward in the last few minutes and unfortunately left the goal undefended. Ardvreck broke free and scored a last minute goal. Final score Cargilfield 1 Ardvreck 1

Cargilfield A team quickly showed their dominance in the second match and there was some fine attacking play and super goals. Issy hit some lovely balls into the D area allowing us to score quickly. Esme and Amalia defended well but also had some opportunity to attack in the second half when we swopped positions. Bea scored three goals, Lucy two and Maddy one. Ardvreck also inadvertently hit in another shot on goal from Lucy. Whilst we need to learn how to better mark our players we played well overall and won convincingly. Final score Cargilfield 7 Ardvreck 0.

The third game was played by Cargilfield green team. In this game we played 7 mixed ability players against 7 girls from the Ardvreck squad. We started very well with Natasha scoring a lovely goal and Tessa, Athena and Natasha were playing a super passing game in a fine triangular shape rather than hitting the ball up the middle. This worked very well. Nadia had some lovely touches and Savannah worked hard to move the ball. We all tried very hard. Ardvreck were defending brilliantly, saving several attempts on goal and they then went on to score two goals of their own. Final score Cargilfield 1 Ardvreck 2.
