U10s v Merchiston and Compass

Two greta games of rugby

The Under 10 boys travelled to Merchiston on Wednesday for a triangular fixture with the hosts and Compass School.

Our first match was against Merchiston and after only a minute, it was clear that it was going to be close.  Both teams tackled well and maintained good pressure on the opposition.  No rucks were allowed in this fixture so the boys could focus on their passing and running, and this resulting in a wonderful, flowing game with excellent passing and good use of the wingers.  The final score was a narrow, 5-4 win.

In the second match, Compass passed the ball really well too and showed good awareness of space on the pitch.  The Cargilfield boys had some fantastic opportunities to get their noses in front but a series of unlucky knock-ons thwarted their attempts.  Again, the match was a close contest and ended in a 4-4 draw.
