On a rather sunny but windy Wednesday afternoon, Cargilfield took on Fettes on their home turf, which promised to be a great game of rugby.
The match was played on a rather unusually shaped pitch; a lot wider than it was long, which gave both teams ample room to manoeuvre and score lots of tries. And that is exactly what happened! I was pleased with how the boys played as a team; passing down the line, supporting each other in attack and popping up the ball well to each other. This allowed us to score some rather good tries against the opposition. Unfortunately, due to the width of the pitch and our lack of ‘shoulder boulder’ Fettes were equally as effective in attack. The area to work on for their next match will be to work on the confidence in going into the tackle with the shoulders rather than flailing arms.
Well done, boys!
