Form 7 Girls Cricket beat Fettes

Some super cricket in the sunshine!

It was a beautiful sunny day as the girls got on the bus to Fettes, without a cloud in the sky. Coming off a decisive win before half term, the girls were feeling confident as they arrived.

Isabella won the toss and elected to field. The pitch was again astro turf, a surface the girls are now very comfortable on. Fettes came out fighting in the first two overs, hitting multiple fours and six through square leg. However, after the girls made the wise decision to plug that area with a fielder the runs slowed down. Some excellent fielding was on display as there were 2 run outs, by Bea and Lotte respectively. There was also some excellent bowling as well, as Esme sent a ball crashing into the top of middle stump, and Amalia took a solid catch after the batter lofted one back to her. In the end Fettes were limited to just 31 from their 8 overs, giving Cargilfield a manageable total to chase.

When we came to bat Isabella set the tone for the innings with a huge six off the first ball! She continued with 3 more boundaries through the legside and finished on 22 runs from just 11 balls. Mariella joined in the fun with a boundary of her own making the opening partnership 29 from only 2 overs. Lotte came in later and played some terrific strokes, her 15 off 7 was interspersed with 3 lovely fours. The rest of the batting was incredibly solid, only losing 1 wicket and displaying great communication in our running between the wickets. At the end of the 8 overs Cargilfield made an amazing total of 66, winning by 35 runs.

Overall, the girls played some outstanding cricket, and should all be very proud of themselves. Isabella wins the player of the match award for her amazing batting and captaincy. I hope this winning streak may continue into their next match!
