U9 Netball v Kilgraston

A win and a loss!

Our U9 girls were split into two mixed teams. We played in Kilgraston’s sports hall, which proved rather noisy and overwhelming for our first team. However, once over the initial shock, they focused well and began to really come together as a team. Even though at half time, it was 2-0 to Kilgraston, our girls didn’t give up, with some great defence from Lily B and Zinnia W. In the third quarter, Isla M and Alice B rotated to be our two shooters, which was brilliant as they both managed to score. In the final quarter, Jemima had then rotated to be a shooter and provided us with our third goal. Although the final score was 5-3 to Kilgraston, our girls did well to ward off a bigger loss. Kilgraston had a strong attack and the ability to move and pass the ball on quickly and accurately. With continued work on marking and defence, we can give them a good run for their money again.

The second match was a much closer game and there was some real feisty work going on. Helena S did some great snatches that were quick, and the excellent team work meant that Bea DH was able to score. Jemima tried hard to add to the score but didn’t quite manage. Alexandra MS was quick on her feet at times and together, the team won the match 1-0.

All girls played fantastically well – it is not easy to remember where positions are meant to be when you are rotating every quarter, but they did Cargilfield and themselves proud. Thank you to Kilgraston for hosting two great games.
