U10B Rounders
What a fabulous day for playing rounders! We fielded a team of 5 Under 9s and 4 Under 10s to play a Loretto U10B team. Lotte our captain won the toss and chose to field first. Unfortunately, Isla and Alice struggled a little with the bowling and we did lose rounders for no balls. However, on the plus side, we were quick at returning the ball to the bowler and shouting “Stop!” This reduced the actual scoring from Loretto. Indeed, in the first inning they scored six rounders off no balls and just 2 additional half rounders. Loretto bowler Chloe was more accurate but although we did hit the balls we needed more pace to get to second post. Livia was the exception, scoring a fine rounder and 2 halves. Praise and Rosanna managed to get themselves stumped out and need to look more carefully the next time.
The second innings was much closer with Loretto scoring six rounders compared to five and a half for Cargilfield. Some fumbled fielding allowed Honour to get two rounders. We need to be sharper to avoid this happening. Praise, Rosanna, Livia and Lotte scored half rounders and we looked more competitive. Helene tried really hard on her first outing for Cargilfield. Well done! Overall, we enjoyed the game and the fine weather.
