U9 Cricket beat Loretto

An excellent start to the season, boys!

U9 Cricket v Loretto

Won

The U9 boys enjoyed a fun first game of Cricket against our chums from Musselburgh. Our captain for the day, Wilf, won the toss and opted to field first, sending the Loretto boys straight into bat in the hot cauldron that was the Harper Gow Astro. Stu and Oliver bowled first and I was impressed with the consistent accuracy of their deliveries. Wilf and Torin were next demonstrating some accomplished actions including some nice leg-spin from Wilf. Salman and Miguel came on next, continuing an impressive show of U9 soft ball bowling. Seb and William stuck to their rythmn and were bowling with more accuracy by the end of their three overs. Teddy and Timothy came in last and bowled a steady and accurate length and line, which restricted the runs from the Loretto batsmen. Our fielding was sharp and brave with some fantastic stops, particularly from William who almost took an amazing catch but stopped a sure boundary. At the end of their innings, the Loretto lads scored 55 runs.

Our batting today was strong and fun to watch. The boys went after the ball, hitting hard and looking to score runs. We even managed a few runs from misfields, which, at this age, was impressive to see. We saw a couple of cover drives from Wilf and Torin who both looked to be playing proper cricket shots. Stuart has a natural ability to shamsh the ball, which always accompanied with a charming and pleased-looking grin! After some truly impressive innings, we managed to score 117 runs.

Well played, boys, an entertaining and encouraging game of U9 cricket!
