On Friday we enjoyed our annual Cargilfield Book Festival Day, the first time it has been able to take place 'live' for three years! Children and staff dressed up in costumes and there was a character parade to begin the day involving children from the Nursery right through to Form 8; this was followed by the announcing of the winners of our 500 word story writing competition which this year was judged by Peter Hunter, long time English teacher at Harrow and now a Governor at Fettes College. Thereafter, there were a series of literary workshops throughout the day hosted by authors, poets, story tellers, artists for all the children to attend, we had Form 8 reading to P1 and P2 and Form 7 writing stories with P3, before the day was brought to an end with staff choosing their favourite children's books to 'Read in Strange Places'! What a fabulous fun filled day of books!
