U12 Cricket lost to Craigclowan

A great game in the sunshine!

U12 Boys Cricket vs Craigclowan (H)

lost by 44 runs

On a lovely sunny day, the Cargilfield Under-12 boys team hosted Craigclowan for game of paired, soft-ball cricket and this provided an opportunity for our boys who have not played many matches to enjoy a game of cricket in the sunshine!

The visitors opted to bowl first so Cargilfield set about trying to make as many runs as they could in their 20 overs. They made a steady start but lost a flurry of wickets between the seventh and ninth overs, costing 25 runs. The boys managed to settle things down and got the scoreboard ticking over again before losing three more wickets in quick succession near the end of their innings. Well done in particular to Paddy, Fred, James and Joseph whose clear calling and astute running resulted in the steady accumulation of singles. At the end of the twentieth over the boys had made a defendable total of 101 runs.

After tea, Craigclowan began their run chase. Their scoring rate was initially very similar to what Cargilfield’s had been but they managed to retain their wickets for three complete partnerships, allowing their score to develop relatively quickly. Their run rate was then further accelerated by a great cameo by their fourth pair who made 49 runs for their four overs.

A couple of wickets in the last two overs reduced their score slightly but by the end of the match they had managed a comfortable victory by 44 runs.

Well done to all the boys for their good sportsmanship and efforts on the day and particular congratulations to the Craigclowan team.
