U11 Rugby lost to Heriot's

An excellent team performance

Despite the loss, the boys should be proud of their progress and courage in today’s exciting game of U11 Rugby. We played on a narrow, very long pitch, which suited the quicker players. We also played 9-aside as the Heriots squad had lots of players. We only had 10, so, with only one sub, the boys had a tough shift today. Unfortunately, there are some boys the Y6 group that were unable to make the fixture today.

Still, the F5’s bravely fronted up and I was incredibly impressed with Wilf, Miguel, Lochy and Hamish who all played with skill and guts. There were some excellent tackles from all of them, strong hands and a couple of neat turn-overs at the ruck too. The F6’s that did make it were excellent. Caspian and Jamie led with determination and did a lot of ball carrying today. A couple of times it looked as though a line break from these two powerful runners would lead to a try but the pitch seemed to go on forever! Edward grew into the match as it went and I was pleased to see some of his form from the previous season begin to return. Leonardo had his best game of the term so far, carrying well and scoring a great try. He held on in the tackle and was pugnacious, which is what we were looking for from him. Theo had another very promising game on the wing and should feel proud of his game. Oliver also played exceptionally well, looking for the ball on every play. He scored a breath-taking try in the second half, dancing his way past a host of defenders. We need to get him on the ball more!

Every player who turned up today performed very well and deserves to feel very proud of their performance. Well done, boys.
