U10s at Clifton Hall Hockey Festival

Well played, girls!

We were at Clifton Hall and played 5 short matches against Mary Erskine’s, Compass, Clifton Hall, Fettes and George Watson’s. It was a good chance for the girls to get more hockey matches, although there were some competitive matches. The first game against Mary Erskine’s was a 1-0 win and we came close to coming back against Fettes and Clifton Hall. Compass were a good team and won 2-0 and Watson’s was a tough end to the tournament but they were a strong team.

All the girls played their part well but could do with spreading out more and finding the space. Well done to Georgia and Eleora who, as U9s, were playing up. They both showed they could compete at this age. Alexandra did well on the ball and carried it forward. Jemima was a good winger and tracked back well in defence. Glory was a terrific captain and covered much of the pitch. Praise was a solid defender today and made some crucial tackles. Lily progressed very well throughout the afternoon and played particularly well at the back, clearing the ball strongly. Clara was the highest scorer today and scored some terrific goals.

Well done girls, on a 4G pitch and in wet conditions, I was impressed with how you kept going and didn’t give up!
