U12 Hockey at ESMS Festival

Lots of learning this afternoon

The team started very strong with a 1-0 win over Compass, scoring a fabulous teamwork goal and holding the opposition off until the end of the match. It was an unlucky 0-0 draw against High School of Dundee next, the girls were playing very well but there was a very competent goalie to get past, despite a brilliant shot on bottom corner saved by the tip of a stick. Following was Dollar which started superbly securing a goal in the first few minutes. Annoyingly, Dollar then managed to sneak in 2 more goals to a 1-2 loss, but nonetheless it was a great match.

The girls came 3rd in their group so went through to the Shield play-offs. Hutchesons was the opponent in the semi-final who were an equally strong side and ended in a 1-0 loss. However, in the 3rd/4th play-off the girls flourished, winning 2-0 with a great goal from both Isla and Athena, so finishing 3rd in the Shield.

Isla was on top form smashing the ball straight into the D and Valentina’s ability to win the ball up high was awesome. Nadia, Bea and Gabriella were solid in defense and each made lots of super tackles. Athena and Olivia were playing beautifully with all their silky skills managing to make great progress up the pitch. Scarlett in goals made some fabulous saves and Nancy, Emilia and Aglaya were also playing very well.

Brilliant work, girls!
