U10 Rugby v SMC

Some terrific rugby on show!

It was a real pleasure to take all the Form 5 boys over to Stewart’s Melville to play in a friendly triangular set of fixtures on what was a lovely and sunny January afternoon! Despite having played no rugby since the end of last term, the boys were looking forward to what is always a challenge, playing a school with so many more boys to choose from.

The two contact teams played some terrific rugby, with some excellent running, ferocious tackling and some really impressive support play; both teams looked to move the ball wide, and into space and this allowed our runners to score lots of terrifc tries and Mr Stephen and myself were both so impressed with the teamwork on show and the quality of rugby that you played. The touch team had a mammoth afternoon, playing non stop against the SMC team and they moved the ball well and showed real improvement over the course of the afternoon. Going forwards, looking for the easy pass and lots of communication are the watchwords and all the boys are looking forward to playing again in two weeks’ time when we shall host SMC at Cargilfield.

It was good to have so many parents watching, and all the boys finished with a smile on their face which is so important. A very enjoyable afternoon of rugby and it was super to hear the referees compliment our boys on the quality of rugby we played; I am sure SMC will come back stronger when we have the rematch!

Well played, boys!
