Workshop with Superar Violin Class in Sarajevo
Thank you to Mrs McLay for leading an inspirational violin workshop for our F7 Fiddle Group in conjunction with Melika Hadzic and one of her groups of violin students in Sarajevo. Some of you will remember the Violin-a-thon that we held in December 2020, where Cargilfield violinists played by rotation for an entire school day in the school foyer from 8.00am to 5.30pm to raise money for violins so that Superar could start their violin classes. It is lovely to now be able to play alongside some of these violinists. Ms Hadzic started us off with a physical warm-up to get us to think about our posture and approach to playing the violin in a healthy and comfortable way. Mrs McLay then taught both groups of violinists a traditional Gaelic slow air called Iain Ruaridh’s Lament. What a pleasure to share our music by linking over the internet in real time! We look forward to meeting up again next term to play to each other.
