U9 Lions Netball beat Belhaven

U9 Lions Netball beat Belhaven

A super team performance!

U9 Lions Netball v Belhaven

Won 8-0

This was our last match of the season and we aimed to go out on a high – and we did! In the first quarter alone, Agus had scored 3 goals for Cargilfield; two of which were incredible! Jed was a fabulous defender, with some superb interceptions.

The second quarter saw Belhaven put up a greater fight. A tall and agile GS meant that our defenders had to work extra hard. Eleora was fierce with grabbing that ball, which meant she could get it down to our shooters. Serena was a super centre, showing a willingness to get stuck in. However, Charlotte and Anastasia just couldn’t quite keep up with the momentum, meaning Belhaven blocked their chances of scoring. Keeping in front of the ball when it is travelling down the pitch towards our goal is a useful piece of advice for us to remember next season. You tried hard though, girls.

The third quarter saw a slightly injured Esme return to play as centre. Jed had some great opportunities to shoot, along with Serena, and the pair of them, encouraged by some Form 8 Cargilfield spectators, scored a further two goals; Belhaven were really struggling to compete against this team!

Our final quarter summed up everything about the U9s this season. I was watching them (and umpiring), admiring just how far they have come in this one season alone. The worked like a team; always watching, passing quickly as they received the ball, jumping to intercept. I couldn’t have been prouder.

To the Lions – Charlotte, Agus, Esme, Serena, Anastasia, Eleora and Jad, plus the Tigers, you have been fabulous to coach this season and you can all be proud of what you have achieved – I know I am!
