4 Gold and 2 Silver awards at this year’s Intermediate Maths Challenge.

Cargilfield has won an impressive 4 gold and 2 Silver awards in the recent UK-wide Intermediate Maths Challenge for 14-16 year olds. Taken by 6 of the Form 8 at the start of February they achieved 6 certificates.

Daniel came top followed by Xander, Joseph, Paddy, Natasha and Ewan. Daniel, Joseph and Xander qualified for the Cayley Olympiad and Paddy the Grey Kangaroo competition both held in March. Well done to all who took part.

The Intermediate Maths Challenge was taken by approximately 270,000 pupils. It involves answering 25 multiple choice questions in one hour and is aimed at pupils from Secondary 5th form and below. Top performers go on to compete in either the Olympiad or Kangaroo competitions. Only the top 500 take part in the UK Olympiad. The Kangaroo is taken by approximately 8000 pupils across the UK and is a worldwide competition which involves competing against pupils from over 50 countries.
