P1s had a super time on Friday at their Maths at the Botanics Day. They counted all sorts of things there as well as estimating numbers and measuring with non-standard units such as strides, handspans and feet. They had to find objects of the same length as each other and they used their outstretched arms with their classmates to try to measure around an area of the garden. They also formed numbers out of natural materials and identified shapes in the environment. The weather stayed dry enough to complete lots of activities and everyone had a busy, informative day.
