Cargilfield School is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Colin MacIntosh as its new Headmaster, effective August 2025. Colin brings a wealth of experience and a passion for education to Cargilfield. During his visits, he was deeply impressed by the prep school's vibrant atmosphere, enthusiastic pupils, and dedicated staff.
Colin is currently the Headmaster of Ashfold School in Buckinghamshire where he and his wife, Anna, have led the school since September 2018. Prior to that, he was Deputy Head at Beaudesert Park in Gloucestershire, and Head of Boarding at Aldro School in Surrey. Colin and Anna have strong links to Scotland. As well as family ties, they are both graduates of St Andrews University and are looking forward to bringing their family back up to Scotland.
Colin is eager to build upon Cargilfield’s strong foundation and lead the prep school into its next exciting chapter. He believes in creating a supportive and stimulating environment where every child can thrive. “I was immediately struck by the warmth and energy of the Cargilfield School community," says Colin. "The children's love of learning and the teachers' commitment to nurturing each child's potential were truly inspiring. My family and I are incredibly excited to be joining the Cargilfield family and becoming part of the wonderful Edinburgh community."
“I was delighted to see Colin MacIntosh appointed as the new Head of Cargilfield School. I am excited about the future of the School, given Colin's leadership experience and qualities. Sarah and I are looking forward to welcoming Colin and Anna back to Cargilfield during the Summer term" said Rob Taylor, current Headmaster.
Cargilfield will continue to strive for every Leaver to be an ambitious learner, achieving their potential academically and in extracurricular activities, as young leaders with high emotional intelligence.
