U11A girls lose to Belhaven

A close game of rounders!

Lost 14-10

It was a beautiful day for a game of rounders at Belhaven. The shape of the pitch was different than the Cargilfield girls have played on before, so the usual tactics weren’t working. This also threw their batting and they only managed to score 3 and half rounders in the first innings. Belhaven performed some strong batting. There was quite a few panic careless throws from Cargilfield causing Belhaven to score 10 and a half rounders in the first innings. It was a tricky area to field with nettles and the ball disappearing into the forest quite a lot, which was another factor to reconsider for the second innings.

After the first innings there was a discussion of tactics and the girls pulled it back in the second innings. They scored more rounders, taking them from 3 and half up to 10. Emma, Laura and Rosanna pulled a full rounder each out of the bag. Flora worked well at second base, preventing Belhaven from scoring many more rounders. However, some half rounders were thrown away due to butterfingers and panic throwing. The girls will continue to think about where they are throwing the ball and brush up on their catching skills.
