U9A and B Girls beat Loretto

U9A and B Girls beat Loretto

Lots of learning and improving!

Both A and B teams played on the Harper Gow which meant that I was able to see all the girls compete, a rare treat! The A team played first and Loretto were quick off the mark scoring a goal. I had initially disallowed it as the player was not in the D, however as the ball was in the D, the mistake was corrected and the goal allowed. This quick burst from Loretto spurred us into action however and Savannah was determined to fight back. She scored five goals mostly on her own merits, dribbling well with the ball and using her skills to get around players. I moved her to midfield in the second half and this allowed us to work on our passing and positioning, building on our team skills. I was very pleased to see some nice passing and creative play and two goals each from Bella and Emilia our captain.  Valentina also had several shots on goal but she needs to work on strengthening her shots as they were too soft. Bella had some shots on goal in the first half but the balls were off target.  Eliza and Gabriella worked well in defence although a little mistake at the end, a risky backwards pass towards our goal, helped Loretto to score their second goal. With Savannah scoring a further four goals, we won comfortably 13:2.

The B team had a much tougher fight on their hands and the Loretto team looked very strong. They went comfortably ahead in the first half and whilst Beatrice and Aglaya worked very hard, Loretto scored 4 goals. We answered with one from Bonnie and a further one from Nadia. We were still in with a chance! In the second half we fought hard and Bonnie found a second wind, scoring two further goals. Millie crossed a lovely ball for Bonnie to slot in for the last goal and we had won! It was very much a team effort, and although we looked tired at times, we did try to pass to each other and Beatrice and Aglaya cleared very well and were not afraid to come out and tackle. Final score Cargilfield 5 Loretto 4.  Well done to both teams!
