We mixed up the Form 6 & 7 girls to form two teams to play the visiting Kilgraston A team. This was the first hockey match for the girls against another school for just under two years and yet despite that, they played some nice hockey and looked very assured – particularly in defence, where they didn’t allow Kilgraston many opportunities to attack. There were some good individual skills on show and when we began to link up with one another, particularly by getting the ball down the right hand side, it created space and we looked much more like a formidable team.

Top play at the back came from Beatrice P who always stood strong and at one point made a terrific pass out to Valentina S on the right wing. Savannah W and Miranda R were buzzing around in the midfield for their teams and Shriyaa, in her first hockey match, came off the bench in both games to put in a solid performance in defence.

However, the player of the day was Isla G who, having not had much action in the Cargilfield goal, went to play for Kilgraston who didn’t have a keeper and put in some excellent saves to prevent her friends scoring any goals in the final game! Well done to all the players for sticking at it in what were very hot conditions!
