U9/U10 Cricket Team 1

vs St Georges P5 (Won by 12 runs)

There was a great deal of excitement and nerves for this our first cricket fixture. Team 1 featured 6 Under 9s and 4 Under 10s. We played five pairs per team, with each pair having four overs to bat and bowl. Wides and no-balls were not rebowled, 2 bowls were added to the batting total. The loss of a wicket meant the batters lost 5 runs. Livia our captain won the toss and elected to field first.

Athena bowled first having managed to hit the stumps in the warm up. She did take a wicket and she held the batting pair to a total of one run. Clara B, Livia and Isla S.A. also bowled well with their batters only scoring two runs in each over. Isla took our second wicket. We could have been a bit quicker with our fielding but we finished the overs with St Georges at 244 for 2 wickets.

When batting we started off very strongly with some fine hits, Athena, Beatrice and Livia hitting particularly well. We also showed good determination to run and scored several single runs in this way. Our final score was 256 for 3 wickets, a very close score,especially considering the many runs we won on no balls.

Well done on your first match, girls. Now that we know what fun it is to play cricket, we will be working even harder on our fielding, bowling and batting.
