Today we headed to Melrose to play rounders against St Mary’s.

The team today; Lucy (Capt), Mariella (VC), Venetia, Esme, Tunrayo, Isabella, Lottie, Anna and Jessica. The team started in the field with some consistent bowling by Lottie and some very good hitting by St Mary's. The girls linking and passing in the field lacked accuracy and speed allowing St Mary's to get to 2nd base racking up 1/2 points. After 30 good balls and St Mary's scoring 6 points it was Cargilfield's turn to hit.

Our first points were gained with 2 home runs being scored by Anna and Jessica. The girls batting was a little inconsistent, but we worked hard to get to the 2nd base to gain 1/2 points. We finished on 5 points.

Cargilfield returned to the field with a couple of position changes. The teams throwing and catching were gelling better with the team catching several high balls to get players out, well done Esme x2, Venetia, Lucy, Mariella and Lottie.

We were now ready for our final inning of batting. We had 61/2 points to catch St Mary's. The girls came up one by one and had some great contact challenging St Mary's in the field. Several half rounders were achieved and some fast-tactical running. The girls worked hard to gain 5 points finishing with Cargilfield 10 & St Mary's 11 1/2.
