2ndXI best Ardvreck

Final game of the season!

We avoided the rain that was threatened on a warm afternoon at Cargilfield for what would be for some of these boys from both schools, their last every game of Prep School Cricket.

We were put into bat and strong performances from Cameron (50* from just 20 balls), Archie and Freddie (20* each) we scored an impressive 203 runs. Credit to the Ardvreck keeper, taking a great catch behind and showed how slick he was with the gloves to take a stumping and getting very close with another.
After match tea and a chat with our opposition, we started well with the ball in hand taking 3 wickets in the first 4 overs. Our bowling was tight although in over 13, one of the Ardvreck boys managed to score a huge 6, getting the ball over the large leg-side boundary and that over, which went for 17 was a particular highlight of the Ardvreck innings. We didn't manage to bowl Ardvreck out but kept them to 78 runs giving us a fairly big victory.

Player of the match goes to Cameron for his excellent half century from just 20 deliveries - what a way to end the season!

For half of the home team, it was their last game of sport for Cargilfield. This season has been full of excellent sporting moments and some amusing ones too. I have been very impressed by the way the boys have conducted themselves on the pitch in what was an unbeaten season.

For those who are staying at Cargilfield, I have no doubt that some will be regular 1st XI players and all of them will feature at some point for the team. They have really improved over the course of the term which has been pleasing to see.

Well done, boys - to those leaving, best of luck with your cricket at senior schools.
