In their first full-contact match of the season, the boys were hosted by Loretto over in Musselburgh.

With six players on each team, there was adequate space to run into and Loretto wasted no time in exploiting the space out wide to score the first try of the match just seconds after kick-off. Cargilfield managed to score their first try a few minutes later and after that the teams pretty much just alternated their scoring for the remainder of the match. Many of the tries were due to strong and direct running, which managed to breach weak tackles and the resulting momentum led to tries. Jamie, Arlo and Geordie were particular exponents of this approach. Jack put in some fantastic tackles, with one particularly outstanding try-saving tackle. In the last minute with his team down by one try, Torin showed excellent determination to force the ball down over the line to earn a 10-10 draw.
