U11A Hockey beat Dollar

U11A Hockey beat Dollar

A good start back after half term!

The U11A team had their second home game of the season. Our squad today was Emily B (Capt), Olivia, Athena, Lottie, Thalia, Livia, Beatrice, Zinnia, Fraya and Scarlett. Our opposition today were Dollar that arrived in the heavy rain ready to get started.

After a short warm up we were ready to go with a larger squad than usual. With 10 players we had the ability to try out new positions and become more versatile players which all the girls performed fantastically well. We played today without a goalie allowing both teams to opportunity to have many shots on goal from the minute they entered the shooting circle. The team started off strong with lots of hard tackles and fairly accurate passing to one another. Dollar got stuck in too, putting up good defence and initially making it hard for Cargilfield to get into the shooting circle. During the first half the rain was VERY heavy but the girls worked incredibly well to keep spirits up and battling on without complaint. The first half finished 3-1 after the girls found their shooting feet and started knocking them in one after another. The second half the girls really came out ready to prove a point and continued to work well as a team. The rain had started to ease off and the girls got straight back into passing and moving up the pitch. The team are starting to react well to keeping the game fast paced and moving. We do however need to have more confidence to drive up the pitch on our own at speed to gain ground. Overall a great start back after half term. The game finished 8-1.
