U9s vs Loretto Tigers win 3-2 Lions loss 2-9

Cargilfield Under 9s played 2 teams against Loretto: the Tigers and the Lions. The Tigers played very well and had a very close game against Loretto. Isabelle Sol had several explosive breaks taking the ball forward at speed. She scored our first goal and helped put pressure on the opposition. Serena played very well indeed on the wing and she scored a goal of her own and rescued the ball from the mouth of the goal, dribbled it wide, passing the ball back in for a super goal for Thandie. Esme also helped put pressure on. Eleora and Anastasia were very strong in defence. It was a super team effort and a good win for the Tigers.

The Lions had a more difficult game. They conceded three goals in the first half, one of which was because we passed the ball in the wrong direction. We did manage to score 2 goals, one a Loretto own goal and the second from Jed, but we were never a threat and our heads went down somewhat in the second half. We do have to keep on trying and be quicker to react. Emilie played very well and a beautiful cross should have resulted in a goal. Imman was good in defence and Polly and Minty did well in midfield. We have an opportunity to play again against Loretto next week. Let’s hope the Lions can lift their game. Final score Cargilfield 2 Loretto 9.
