Well played, boys!

Under-11B Rugby vs Strathallan (H)

Won 11-5

The Under-11s hosted Strathallan on Wednesday for a contact rugby match. Warm-ups all done, the boys took to the field with the visitors taking the first tap. They made excellent ground on their first attack, with a couple of powerful runs before losing possession - they regained the ball immediately when a defender kicked the ball back to them, which they gratefully accepted and ran through to score the first try of the match. Cargilfield responded almost immediately though and the teams alternated scoring for the next six tries after that. Then, on Strathallan’s attack, a great tackle allowed Oliver to scoop up a loose ball, pass the ball wide and the Cargilfield boys were able to run in another try before half time, with the score on 6-4 to the home team.

The second half favoured Cargilfield more than the first half as they began to really get into their tackling, happily taking on some sizable boys and driving them backwards to nullify their impact. Some jackalling also allowed for a couple of steals, which were turned into some effective attacks with Monty and Timothy providing some pace on the wings, and David impressing in the centre. As commendable as the try scoring was, it was the boys’ determination in tackling that particularly impressed and as the top tackler in the match, Oliver earned himself the title of man-of-the-match.

Well done to all the boys for a fine effort - everyone played their part.
