U9 Lions Hockey v Ardvreck (H)

Won 7-0 and Lost 4-1

We welcomed the Ardvreck U9 hockey teams on Wednesday for a couple of afternoon matches. The Cargilfield boys were divided into two teams, the Lions and the Tigers.

The Lions, who were made up of Tommy, Ezra, Teddy, Miguel, Nick, Magnus, George and Arran, took on the Arvreck B-team first. Our boys showed some excellent passing, working the ball out wide, down the wing and then back into the centre of the ‘D’ where numerous attempts on goal were made. In defence, the boys were energetic and typically won the ball back in the midfield. Over the course of the 15 minutes, several of the boys successfully passed the ball through the posts to score and the match ended with a final result of 7-0.

The second match was a much tougher affair as the Lions took on Ardvreck’s A-team. Ardvreck’s passing was strong and their positioning was good and the Lions had to work hard to stem the flow of goals. After the first 5 minutes, Ardvreck was already three goals up. In the latter part of the match, the boys worked a bit harder off the ball, meaning the opposition didn’t have it all their own way. After a period of working particularly hard, the boys were rewarded with a goal of their own.

For the final 15 minutes, the boys from both schools formed two mixed teams and played one last match with new team-mates, which was a marvelous way to end a great afternoon of hockey. Well done to all the boys for a fantastic effort and a big thank you to Arvreck for making the trip down from Crieff.
