U11A Hockey beat Loretto

Well played, boys!

We had a large squad to play Loretto today. Players moved around which made the game quite scrappy as every ten minutes it was a different team. Loretto competed well and only a Cargilfield running penalty (we opted not to play penalty corners) separated the sides after two quarters of 10 minutes. Loretto had a few chances in front of goal but couldn't manage to make the most of them. In the third period we began to play some more cohesive hockey through Caspian, with Arthur impressing once again on the right with his positional sense of keeping wide and Arlo's energy on the left wing got us creating more chances. Theo got the first goal from open play and a few more then followed. Loretto made a good break through the middle and slotted the ball into the corner of the goal. A well-deserved goal from the visiting team who had to play much of the game without much rest. It is clear we have some strength in depth but we must try to take what we are working on in training into these games and keep the ball with composure. Well done today, boys in cold and wet conditions.
