It was a lovely afternoon for our away match at Fettes today.There was a bright blue sky and calm conditions although it was a little chilly. The girls were fantastic and worked really well as a team. They created space and their marking was excellent today. The girls got off to a flying start with two early goals from Mariella and Lucy. Fettes managed to claw one back in the first quarter to leave it 3 – 1. Bea was excellent in the centre feeding the ball and with Izzy and Jess great on the wings helping the flow of play.

By half time the girls had increased their lead to 6 – 1. The Fettes team definitely had a height advantage and won many high passes but our girls played a good tactical game, utilising the chest pass and the bounce pass to their advantage. Some excellent defensive play from Amalia and Maddie meant the Fettes girls had fewer opportunities to score in the second and third quarters. This run of play continued for the remainder of the match with Cargilfield dominating play, keeping possession and scoring more goals. One last goal from Fettes in the dying minutes boosted them but the game was ours. A really strong team effort with some massive improvements showing through. The daily drills in games are really playing off. An outstanding shooting performance in particular from Mariella, who scored 8 of the goals but a massive well done to everyone on a super afternoon.
