U11A Rugby beat Craigclowan

U11A Rugby beat Craigclowan

A close encounter!

Having played three matches in three days over the weekend, a few weary bodies took to the field up at Craigclowan this afternoon. It was a narrow pitch and with 9 players per side, it was quite a crowded game with not much space to play with. I was impressed with the physicality and commitment from both sides, who entertained the crowds with a competitive and feisty match. We tried to play passing rugby but with not much space, often the only way to go forward was straight ahead and there were lots of strong running from both teams. I was impressed with our tackling on the whole today, with Caspian showing excellent technique and power. Edward, Monty and Rafa were also outstanding in defence. Our rucking and turn-over ball from the tackle area were impressive too, with Harry and Jamie making a number of great turn-overs. Theo and Dexter linked up well and Archie showed his hands are made of glue again by taking some unbelievable catches. Wilfred returned after his Covid-forced absence with aggression and desire. We scored some great tries, re-cycling the ball well and passing through a number of phases. Well done to the boys for grinding out a tough-fought victory.
