The Under-9 boys hockey team was very glad to welcome Fettes to Cargilfield on Wednesday. For many of the boys, this was their first ever hockey match and they had been greatly anticipating it.

Each school fielded two teams, who then played two matches apiece. The Cargilfield teams dominated their matches by being strong on the ball and making every effort to run down loose balls – the work rate of the boys was impressive. A couple of the matches were closely contested with Cargilfield managing to come out on top, and the other two matches proved more free-flowing, from the home team perspective, and led to somewhat more comfortable wins. An area we will look to improve upon before our next match is to ensure that we distribute the ball to the wider positions more effectively.

Well done to all the boys for a commendable effort and for their infectious enthusiasm for the game.
