A team vs Fettes

This was a fast paced and very evenly matched contest. Our girls were on top form today. We had been working on our mobility around the court and today this was certainly evident. There were nerves on both sides during the first quarter which affected both teams’ shots at goal and we ended it 2 goals apiece.

In the second quarter our shooting was not quite on pointe and we were a little rattled by the effectiveness of the Fettes defence and in particular their super long reach. Fettes just edged ahead with 3 goals to our 2.

In the third quarter we re-jigged our positions a bit, took stock and fought back. Again, we matched Fettes in terms of possession but they edged ahead in terms of goals. The final quarter was played a little bit too fast. We were determined to make our mark but perhaps were not quite as careful as we should have been and didn’t take our three seconds to consider the options before sending the ball on. In the dying seconds we shot for goal but the whistle blew before it entered the ring.
