U11A Rugby v Loretto
Drew 8 - 8
With a group of regular U11A players rested, following a serious amount of rugby on tour, a new-look A team travelled to Loretto and enjoyed an expansive, enjoyable game today.
Playing on a nice, wide pitch, our boys kept terrific structure and shape, passing the ball from wing to wing. We started very well, winning our rucks and putting a lot of pressure on the Loretto boys. We scored three great early tries, which were true team tries and involved passing through multiple phases. We decided to sub a player to even things up for a while, and Loretto fought their way back into the contest with some super support play. With a few U12 players coming down to join the U11 team, Loretto started to find some rhythm and the second half was a much more even contest.
Geordie, David and James made up the mid-field and they played with determination and grit throughout, missing very few tackles and competing at every ruck. Arlo and Monty K played on the wings and saw a lot of ball. Monty K covered a number of kicks and defended a few 1 on 1 situations very well against a speedy runner. Arlo was king-communicator, and kept the team in shape. Monty S ran with strength and aggression. Oliver showed good hands on occasion and Timo also linked very nicely. Torin ran some strong lines and also showed excellent hands on a couple of occasions.
All in all, there was some really quality passages of play and this was a great game of rugby. Well played boys!
