U11A Cricket v St. Mary’s

On a beautiful summer’s day in the borders our U11As took on a strong St. Mary’s Melrose side. Tommy lost the toss and was put into bat. Monty and Tommy struggled against the accuracy and pace of the St. Mary’s opening bowlers leaving Cargilfield in a little bit of trouble. Good partnerships from Stuart & David and Archie & Arran steadied the ship. Michael and Salman struck the ball beautifully and we set St. Mary’s 230 to win.

The St. Mary’s batters got off to a fast start. Tommy provided real control with the ball in his first spell, getting 4 wickets. Seb and Hugo bowled economically and Monty picked up another wicket, leaving the game in the balance. Tommy then came back on for his second spell and took a further 3 wickets but sadly this late effort wasn’t enough to get us over the line.
