U11C Hockey v Fettes
Win 6 - 2
Team: Sophia M, Niamh, Isla, Isobel, Isabella, Clara, Arabella, Sophia L, Sophie
On Wednesday our U11 girls played an excellent hockey match hosted by Fettes. The sun was shining without a cloud in the sky as they took to the field with 7 aside for a great game of hockey.
Our girls came out strong, with Isabella and Arabella scoring goals within the first few minutes showcasing Cargilfield’s strong attacking ability and great teamwork. Isla also stood out with some impressive tackles, helping to turn the ball around and drive it towards our attacking end. Due to warm weather, the girls played four short quarters which allowed them to cool down in between. In the second quarter, we chose to play 6 aside in order to create are more fair playing field which led to both teams playing impressive hockey with the girls spreading out, passing, and working well as teams. We also introduced a rule requiring our players to make five passes before attempting a goal which encouraged better teamwork and allowed the girl to spread out.
Our defensive trio, Sophie, Niamh, and Clara, were very strong, deflecting several goal attempts, especially as both teams were playing without a goalkeeper. Isobel was named Player of the Match, playing brilliantly in forward, wing, and defence as well as assisting with multiple goals. Sophia L and Sophia M also had outstanding games on the wings, linking up well with the defence and pushing the ball forward along the sides. Well done to the girls they should be super proud of their performance and great sportsmanship!
