U13D Boys’ Hockey v Fettes
Won 6-0
The first match of the season saw a strong 4th team travel away to Fettes and make an impressive start to the season.
Captain, Honour, led the team well from the back and used his pace and strong jab tackle to prevent Fettes having many meaningful attacks while Salman’s strong positional play and effective dribbling down the right hand side created lots of chances.
Mack was playing his first hockey match and quickly picked up the pace, linking well with Finlay on the left wing to create a number of scoring opportunities. Finlay’s sweep shot might have been even more effective if one or two shots has finished just the other side of the post. Monty was aggressive in attack and drove hard at less confident defenders, enjoying a number of scoring opportunities.
Cargilfield might have scored more goals although Fettes’ defence became more stubborn and credit to the Fettes team for keeping going throughout.
An impressive first performance for Spring 2025 and I can see that this team are likely to go on and create scoring opportunities and bag lots of goals across the season. Thanks to Timothy for standing in as goalkeeper. He had few shots to save but maintained his concentration well.
