U11 Netball v Edinburgh Academy
Round Robin Tournament
All our U11 girls played today. Our opponents had not played much netball and asked that we mixed our teams and so we had three teams yellow, red and blue who all played 3 x10 minute games against Edinburgh Academy.
Team Yellow
Started very strongly with some excellent defensive work from Thandie at GD. We worked hard to get the ball straight into the D for our shooters, Isabella and Isabelle. Both shot very well today even though for our first match the post was at full height and took a bit of getting used to. Charlotte worked very well at Centre and Anastasia was fantastic today especially on the wing where she was always just ahead of the ball and ready to send it on. Well done too to Sophia, Izzy L, Mo who played their socks off.
Our results, which were all wins, were 3-0, 3-2 and 4-0.
Team Blue
Great Round robin today with our girls trying out a full size netball hoop for the first time!
We managed to secure 3 wins with scores of 2-1, 2-0 and 1-0. Some great shooting from Sophia, Emilie, Clara and Izzy RD.
Rose captained for us today and was a brilliant leader -good comms and encouragement to all the team. Minty, Zanna and Agus got some incredible interceptions and turned over the ball countless times.
A great effort against 3 different teams and some brilliant play today. Well done girls!
Team Red
The undefeated red team played phenomenally this Wednesday, which resulted in scores of 14-0, 4-2, 3-1. We concentrated on our spacing, which opened the court for particularly fluid play.
Jed was formidable as GK, stopping multiple movements into the defensive third. Eleora, our Captain, held midcourt as GD, consistently fed balls up the court, and scored multiple goals in the final game as GA. Sophie formed a reliable defence as GK, but also scored multiple goals as GS. Arabella held mid-court as centre, both in her interceptions and positioning, and enabled quick movement up the court. Polly and Katherine worked very well together on the wings, Katherine making multiple interceptions and Polly always well-positioned up court to move the ball into the offensive third. Isla and Niamh were fantastic in offence together. Niamh made multiple interceptions and was a true presence in the D in setting up goals. Isla also made a very impressive shot practically at the top of the D in the second game.
The consistent team-work, spacing, and communication meant that the red team had a very successful day in all three matches. For next time, aim to keep hold of interceptions and slow down our passes, as then we will be in even more control of our play. Very, very well-done girls.
